FAQ's Common questions about Florida Wedding requirements
1. Where do I get the marriage license?
Any Clerk of Court can issue a marriage license. You and your fiancé must apply in person. Make sure you have valid photo ID.
2. Is there a waiting period?
No for non-Florida residents.
For Florida residents, if you take a premarital course there is no waiting period. If you chose not to take a premarital course then there is a three day waiting period for Florida residents. The date you can have your ceremony will be listed on the marriage license
3. Is there a time limit to having the ceremony after the license is issued?
Yes. You have 60 days to have your ceremony.
4. Where can I get information on taking the premarital course?
The Clerk of Court’s office has a list of approved providers.
5. What are the fees to obtain a marriage license?
Without taking a premarital course the cost is $94.05. If you take a premarital course the fee is reduced to $61.55.
6. Do I have to have the ceremony in the county the license was issued in?
No. You may have your ceremony in any county in the State of Florida you wish. The license will be returned to the issuing county by the Officiant.
7. If I want to renew my vows, do I need to get another marriage license?
No. Vow renewal is a symbolic ceremony and not legally binding. It is just reaffirming your vows to each other.
